Leading with Courage, Authenticity, & Connection

Executive HR Women’s Network Summer Social Recap

Executive HR Women’s Network Summer Social Recap

We’re excited to share a recap of our latest Executive HR Women’s Network event in Pittsburgh! Our Summer Social at Baja Bar & Grill was the perfect evening of warm weather, great food, and even better company. Thank you to all the incredible HR leaders who joined us for meaningful conversations, refreshing cocktails, and an inspiring leadership session. Special thanks to Angela Patete, Senior Account Executive at a Fortune 500 company, for her insightful presentation, “The Leadership Triangle: Courage, Authenticity, and Connection.”

The Leadership Triangle

Angela began by sharing her personal journey in the recruitment space, where she discovered the power of intuition in finding the right fit for both job seekers and employers. Trusting her instincts not only strengthened her professional decisions but also gave her the courage to show up as her authentic self. She introduced us to what she calls the Leadership Triangle, a framework built on three pillars:

  • Courage (Ascension and Action): Without courage, the foundation of leadership can be considered weak.
  • Authenticity (Grounding and Truth): The power of showing up as your true self in leadership.
  • Connection (Integration and Impact): Where trust, psychological safety, and belonging emerge.

The Power in the Void

Continuing with the symbolism of the triangle, Angela encouraged us to consider the area that lies between these three pillars — the “void.” Rather than viewing it as empty space, she explained how the void offers an opportunity to pause, reflect, and create something new. It is in this space that transformation happens.

Putting the Leadership Triangle into Action

Angela left us with a practical framework for intention-based outcomes within each pillar:

  • Courage: Get clear, name your values and shared beliefs, and stand firm, especially under pressure.
  • Authenticity: Align your true values, live your message out loud, and be the same person in every room.
  • Connection: Uphold your values, create psychological safety, foster belonging, and, like a magnet, draw others in not just by what you do, but by what you stand for.

Building Our Community

The evening was a great opportunity to learn and connect with other local HR leaders. Attendees shared stories, exchanged ideas, and strengthened relationships. The casual summer setting made it easy to unwind, yet the conversations and takeaways were energizing and purposeful.
