We’re excited to share highlights from our second Executive HR Women’s Network event at La Roche University, hosted by BV Staffing. We’d like to give a special thank you to Paige Turk, ODCP, Director of HR at Flynn’s Tire Group, for leading an insightful discussion on how relational leadership can transform employee engagement.
With engagement at an all-time low and trust in institutions strained, HR leaders must prioritize creating a culture of engagement. Paige emphasized that culture is formed whether it’s intentional or not, shaped by what organizations tolerate and celebrate. HR leaders need to be proactive in fostering a workplace environment that supports employee engagement and well-being.
Paige shared her view of accountability as a spectrum, with leaders having the ability to move across this spectrum by improving both the work and relationships within their teams. One example she provided involved optimizing processes for individuals managing high volumes of tire inventory. While the nature of the work remained unchanged, applying new techniques to safely handle these heavy items can improve work efficiency and employee health.
Paige introduced her ‘KFC’ model—Know Me, Focus Me, and Care for Me—as a framework for building stronger relationships with employees. When leaders see their team members as individuals, it fosters a deeper connection, creating an environment where employees feel valued. Paige also highlighted that hope is one of the highest needs of employees, and by breaking the cycle and fostering hope, leaders can spark positive change within their teams.
To drive meaningful changes, Paige outlined three essential actions for leaders:
By improving both work processes and relationships, leaders can drive better outcomes, greater innovation, and a more engaged workforce.
A special thank you to Paige Turk for her valuable insights and to La Roche Universityfor hosting this impactful session.
